Autumn is my favourite time of year! Crunchy leaves on the ground, orange and red colours in the trees and the golden sun shinning through making everything look warm and cosy. Having a wedding over the autumn period is a great opportunity to reflect those warm tones into your big day. The reds, browns and oranges can be incorporated into your flowers, makeup and your wedding décor giving your wedding that warm autumnal glow.
To celebrate the start of this beautiful season of weddings, we decided to create a styled photoshoot. But this was set to be no ordinary shoot!
Flowers & props
When Claire Wallace at Miss Mollies flowers told me she had just bought a moongate I was super excited to use the shoot to launch it along with her props for wedding hire. I knew miss mollies could deliver a breathtaking flower arrangement but I was still stopped in my tracks with this stunning moongate. Standing tall in the beautiful grounds of Oakley hall Hotel in Hampshire, the sun was beaming through and enhancing all the reds and oranges on this gorgeous ring of all things autumn! It literally all took my breath away!
With such stunning floristry and grounds I knew straight away I had to ask Alistair at Ideal Imaging to capture It all! His skills and experience in the industry are above and beyond a standard I could ever imagine! His passion for it really comes across when hes shooting, practically having to tear him away from his camera for a breather. I knew he would deliver stunning shots, bringing in the warm tones of the autumn in the golden hour of the sun.
Accompanied with the hard working and very talented dress maker – Victoria harper at the Farnham boutique who supplies us with hair pieces for sale at our studio, this talented woman supplied the gorgeous wedding dresses you see in the images. Victoria went above and beyond by not only supplying the dresses, but bringing them to the shoot to dress the girls, be at hand to position the dresses and help the girls to carry the trains. We are so proud to be working along side of this amazing boutique!
Attack of the Ladybirds
With Claire Wallace lighting her candles in the scene, the 3 of us touching up the hair and makeup, Alistair running around with his camera and light reflector plus Victoria arranging the dresses we must of all looked like a mad bunch of headless chickens clucking around!
Not to mention the attack of the ladybirds!! Our golden hour of photography was rudely gatecrashed by what could only be described as an “ANGRY SWORM” of ladybirds! I have never been smacked in the face by a bug in my whole lifetime as much as I had in that one hour! Every lady bird in the world must have been at Oakley hall grounds in that one hour!
Hair & Makeup
I am proud to announce that Helen & Georgina will soon be moving up to platinum stylists! After having them in the team for 3 years I am forever amazed and delighted with their work and feedback from clients. I feel this move is good for them to push themselves even further in their abilities. I will then be moving up to a diamond stylist which will also be bringing brides some luxury and exciting added extras for anyone wanting to book me for their wedding. - watch this space!
Helen & Louisa
Helens model was the lovely Louisa. Inspired by the natural brown smokey eye from the Chanel Fall/Winter collection and the Charlotte Tilbury ‘Vintage Vamp’ look, I wanted to create a natural but intense glamorous look on my model for this shoot. For her eyes she blended a soft brown MAC eyeliner and paint pot to give a smokey matte finish defined the lash line the Charlotte Tilbury "Rock N Kohl pencil", then added a subtle pop of shimmer with Eyes To Mesmerise in ‘Bette’ - also Charlotte Tilbury ( we LOVE her products)
To create Louisa’s gorgeous glowing skin she used MAC "Strobe Cream" along with Giorgio Armani "Luminous Silk Foundation", contoured her amazing cheeks bones with the Anastasia Beverly Hills "contour palette" and finished with Helens new favourite highlighter Becca - "Moonstone".
The star of this make up look for her was always going to be the sexy berry stained lips.
A combination of the Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick ‘Night Crimson’ and Lip Gloss in ‘Unleash Me’
Helens Top Tips on creating this look are:
When using ‘luminous’ and ‘dewy’ finish primers and foundations always finish with a powder in the T-zone and under eyes to eliminate any extra shine and avoid looking oily.
To create the perfect red lip always line and define lips with a liner first - Helen used Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in ‘Savage Rose' This helps to create a fuller looking pout and stops the lipstick from bleeding.
Georgina & Natalie
Georgina's model was the gorgeous Natalie. For Natalies flawless complexion she used MUA wonder vanishing cream primer on clean, moisturised skin. Once soaked in thoroughly she applied No7 all day wear foundation with a foundation brush to give a natural Finish, concealing any redness and blemishes with
Benefit boing concelar. Setting the base using NYX hd finnishing powder and contoured and highlighted Natalies amazing cheek bones and added a warm blush with urban decays afterglow pallets. For her eyes Georgina used a mixture of Urban Decay "born to run palette" and "Naked 3" for a mixture of dusky pinks and smoky nudes. To make Natalies eyes pop she lined with NYX liquid liner in black and applied ardell wispie false eyelashes to open the eye and defined the bottom lashes with Urban Decay "Trouble Maker" mascara. The whole look was set with Urban Decays all nighter setting spray and a gorgeous rose lipstick topped with a hint of gloss.
Georginas top tips for creating this look are:
For hair that doesn't hold volume well use volume powder or crimp the roots for volume without back combing that holds.
To make her eye shadow stay and show true to colour apply over a light concelar...this will help the product stick and make the eye shadow pop!!!
Claire & Kelly
My hilariously entertaining and beautiful model was the lovely Kelly.
Kelly has gorgeous autumnal coloured hair and big blue eyes so it was a no brainer using kelly for this shoot. For this makeup look I used the Urban Decay "Heat" palette on her eyes, creating a warm smokey eye. Followed by a Bojouis liquid liner to define the eyes and some big glam lashes by Glamify! For her skin I used a Becca "Mattifying Primer" as kelly suffers with oily skin, along with the Nars "Radiance long wear foundation" to give her a flawless base with a skin look glow. I also used the Charlotte Tilbury "Contour Wand" to create some warmth to her skin and enhance her cheekbones. To highlight the inner corners of the eyes and her cheekbones i used the Iconic drops and used my fingers to warm it into the skin. Setting everything with the must have "Translucent Setting Powder" by Laura Mercia & the Urban Decay "Setting Spray". After 4 hours Kelly still looked flawless, with the result of me not having to touch up her makeup once! Only thing I changed was her hair for the moon gate shots for some added glamour and drama!
My Top Tips on creating this look are:
Kelly has amazing eyes and I really wanted them to be the main feature in the images, so I used a nude eyeliner in the waterline to just brighten and open them up accompanied with a warm smokey eye and Glamify lashes to really make them pop!
When the eyes are the focus, use a soft nude lip to let the eyes do all the talking. I used "Pillow Talk" by Charlotte Tilbury.
It was an absolute pleasure creating this stunning shoot with these amazing suppliers! I want to thank every one of you involved including our lovely models! I wil
